Dallas, Texas : Noiraude Runs Away

It’s dusk. The weather is nice. It’s just the time for a walk. We leave with TouFou for a short stroll in the park. Suddenly, we hear a woman with a French Canadian accent saying: "Noiraude, my baby, please come to mama, come and eat, yum, yum”. We continue our walk. When we return, we can still hear the French Canadian lady: "come see mummy, come on, my pretty little kitty". Her little black cat has run away.

Unfortunate incident for Corinne and her husband. They drove for twelve hours. It’s now 8h30 pm. They are exhausted. Corinne’s husband isn’t very worried by the cat’s disappearance. That’s not the case for Corinne, she is very upset and she is close to tears. With the help of neighbours, we search for the cat. "Where are you Noiraude? Come on". Texans on the search party don’t know that the cat understands only French!!! All of a sudden, we can see her. She jumps over the big fence into the hinterlands of Dallas… it’s over, now she is really lost. Corinne is distraught and we are all sad for her.

Around 9h30 pm, I take a look outside. A big, grey, tomcat struts about besides the motorhome. Behind him the pretty little Noiraude. I put on my robe and rush out to tell Corinne. Her Noiraude is back. "Noiraude, come see mummy, there’s good milk for you". Noiraude finally decides to go to mummy Corinne. She hurries back into the motorhome with her baby and that seems to be the end of the Noiraude story. Corinne is happy and I head back to my motorhome. The misadventure is over… almost.

That night, TouFou grumbles. We wake up. Guess who is meaulling near Corinne’s motorhome? The big grey tomcat. Apparently the little lost French Canadian cat won the heart of the big Texan tomcat. Language is no barrier to love.

The name is not inspiring but Central Market, 4651 West Freeway, Fort Worth, is the best grocery store chain in the Area. It’s the only place in Texas that I could buy good fresh produce, French bread, delicious cheeses, etc.

Dallas’ AURORA, a very chic restaurant: don’t forget your credit card!!! We had dinner there one night with friends and all four of us have everlasting memories of the place: an eleven course meal, caviar, black truffles, foie gras and Sauternes… Ooh, la, la! Checkout their website.
