Every day, at the very chic Hotel Peabody, located at 149 Union Avenue, in Memphis, duckies, residents of the hotel’s magnificent roof top terrace, use the elevator to go down, escorted by the maître d’, to the main hall. The little ducks strut along, one after the other, to the joy of customers. They waddle along quietly through the crowd, to the foyer’s central fountain where they swim in the pond built for them at the base of the fountain. It’s a lovely sight to see.
Once bath time is over the pretty little duckies walk one after the other towards the elevator waiting to return them to their nice dwelling on the terrace. We are allowed to see them on the roof, and they live very well, I can assure you.
They parade everyday in the foyer at 11h am and 5h pm precisely.
Recently, in Orlando Florida, a Peabody Hotel was opened on International Drive. The logo of the hotel: a small duck. It’s impossible to miss it. If you ever go to Disney World, pass by the Peabody with your family. The duckies perform the same show as in the flagship Peabody in Memphis. Your children will enjoy it and so will you.
Do not fail to go to the most famous restaurant in Memphis: Le Rendez-Vous, located at 52 S Second Street in the alley behind the building, across the street from the Peabody. Don’t let the shabby entrance fool you. The restaurant was opened in 1948 and although the overall look is rather bizarre, but what can I say, it’s always packed.
