After thirty years of marriage, a very nice souvenir reappears, taking us way back.
Once again, we are installed on Vancouver Island. The motorhome is parked next to a hangar of a helicopter company, near the Straits of Georgia. Spring is almost over and I am cooking diner. Brian is sitting on the coach looking at the sea. Everything is so quiet. A chopper suddenly approaches. "Lyne, Lyne, come and see, SEB just landed. SEB is the registration of a Jet Ranger, Bell 206 Helicopter which was based In Quebec City some twenty-five years ago.
That chopper witnessed our love and our dreams for many years. With SEB, we skipped through the Province of Quebec, tracking forest fires, floods. We landed in Escoumins, where we had a cottage on the shores of the St-Laurence estuary, etc, etc, etc.
In those days Helicopter scenic tours occupied most of our weekends: we used to leave Quebec City in the middle of the afternoon on Fridays after school. Brian piloted and I was selling tickets. We didn’t miss many events: pancake festival, pork festival, trout festival, we gave festival goers everywhere a birds eye view of the festivities…
I had forgotten about SEB. It was a distant souvenir.
For some years, SEB was based on the Island of Vancouver. A young pilot bought it. He pampers it. He even installed convex windows in the back. I look at Brian, take a look at SEB. Brian looks at me. I have tears in my eyes, so does Brian. What a wonderful journey back in time.
